[12:14:59] Persephone Bolero: One day, after a combat scenario turned into a bunch of drama, I realized how unsatisfying the combat RP in the Amazon often is. It’s almost never sexual. It rarely includes anything other than torture and extortion, which is lazy and repetitive. And it often turns into OOC drama. On the other hand, I realized, my non-combat RP is incredibly sexy. It’s often elaborate and complex, with multiple layers of conflict. And it’s never—not once!—turned into OOC drama. I would highly recommend people try going green. The RP can be so much more fulfilling, and it’s drama-free.
And you can still have physical conflicts with the dice. I have a pick in my profile that details a system I use. It’s a great way to get more out of your RP. Since males typically play video games a lot more than women, females are often at a disadvantage in pew-pew-pew. With dice, lag never affects outcomes. And since an attacker can easily lose no matter his skill, it places him in the position of not attacking just to stroke
[12:14:59] Persephone Bolero: his OOC ego with an easy victory. He has a 50/50 chance of being captured, which keeps combat less of a video game. Best of all, if the attacker is just someone whose idea of capture RP is “Haha, you lost. Give me coins,” you can walk away and spend your time with creative, sexy roleplayers. This is no critique of Tantrica’s combat system. It’s the best I’ve seen in SL, and I don’t want to start a bunch of judgements against people who want to stay yellow and enjoy that combat system. I may still go yellow or purple sometimes myself. I just want people to consider the possibilities of going green and/or doing combat RP with dice. It’s got a lot of untapped potential. We’ve been given a lot of tools to make this RP experience fun and individualized. We should use them all.

[12:21:13] Syd Straaf: In response to Perse, some of the best fighters in the jungle are female. There is absolutely no issue with men having an advantage in combat.
Also, in regards to picking fruit, maybe a solution is not having less rez, but having them rez in different places randomly and at random intervals so nobody can camp for them.

I'd like to say two things, first to thank Tantrica for changes that followed the last OOC meeting. The other point is a plea for tolerance & respect.

[12:23:39] Khaing Zar (raigann): Tantrica & admin are trying hard to promote good RP. We all spend time & money here because we LOVE Amazon & its opportunities for RP. But many of us are tired of drama over RP or non-RP about fighting & are concerned about native friends leaving Amazon because of that.
[12:23:55] Khaing Zar (raigann): A few fighters have the attitude that Amazon is solely about CARP. Xoco has been told more than once, ‘if you’re yellow you‘re fair game - or go green’ & that Amazon isn’t about natives sitting round campfires singing & dancing. They seem to want us to fight endlessly & do nothing else. I talk for Xoco because that’s my tribe, but lots of other natives agree with us.
[12:24:12] Khaing Zar (raigann): Xoco has great fighters, a good number of them. They love fighting. BUT they love other aspects of RP too. Amazon is about CARP - but also about having fun with quests, hunting, living as indigenous peoples, sex, exploring, swimming, Mama Allpa & tribal events.
[12:24:33] Khaing Zar (raigann): Earlier this week over 48hours, we were attacked 9 times in our camp. Most of those times there was little/no RP before or after & no clear reason for the attack - it’s simply attack, disrupt, down & run tho - a couple of times captives were taken. There’s been no provocation - we’re attacked while we’re dancing, chatting, just sitting around or trying to hold a meeting.

[12:24:49] Khaing Zar (raigann): Our Friday dances were meant to be amnesty events with no weapons, they were aimed at bringing Amazon folk together & promoting goodwill - they’ve been threatened with attack & have been attacked twice now - causing great resentment.
[12:25:01] Khaing Zar (raigann): These kinds of fights & their frequency disrupt yellows & greens. I just want to make a plea for some common sense, RP etiquette & respect for others.

[12:26:08] Tantrica ღ (yt.recreant): tolerance and respect is something that we should remember ourselves daily.. one thing i often see (not only here but also from admins on other sims) is that residents resort fast, amazingly fast to swear words and insults. which is why i put my foot down in amazon chat for example pretty swiftly as soon as i am aware..

We had something like that before and we usually asked healers to not heal us. I even shot a healer once who was trying to heal me. Because in like 90% of cases we'd rather wait the timer out than be green for 5 min. So we think it might kill combat healing. Is it possible to rethink this?

I'd like (and I know what I'm asking here, I'm a scripter) to see some form of stats-augmented dice as an option for Amazon. Would that be a possibility?

I have heard numerous others have the same experience as I have, where much of my time is constantly eating, whereas before I didn't need to eat as often and wait as long to ensure it took, all because I dislike the look of my avatar as a tinier form.

Some of them complain they’re labeled disparagingly as rapists and perverts if they’re sexually aggressive, and it’s a legitimate complaint. I want to encourage all men not to give a shit what other people think about what they do with other consenting adults. I get labeled a slut all the time, which is basically the flip side of the same prudish, judgmental coin. I like skin against skin. I like lips brushing against lips. I like sweat mixing with sweat. And I like bodies in all shapes and sizes and genders. Sorry-not sorry. Yes, respect limits as absolutely sacred. An OOC “no” is never, ever a suggestion. Otherwise, guys, go out and be perverts and rapists. Please! If someone who is not a part of your RP scenario has a problem with it, let it be their problem and ignore it.

[12:40:45] Zoey (shardsofice): I would like to bring up a case for easier transport of captives since birds are no longer being used for this. It gets very difficult to rp with people when you have to drag multiple or even one person through different sims. This is even worse when They have shorter time limits on rp, say only 30 min carp times. I spend a majority of that time walking someone and have no time to form a good rp because you cannot talk and walk at the same time. However, with the rescuing allowed again you cant just rp with someone in close range of where you had downed them. I love CARP rp and I ty to make it as entertaining as possible for anyone I take as a captive, try to build stories etc. But its very difficult to do when you have to drag someone 15 minutes before you can talk. by that time, everyone is in a bad mood.
Also, perse. I'd just like to second Syd when he said a lot of fighters here are female. And just being realistic but sometimes you have to be a bit more aggressive to be the sexual pred when you're the

Helicopters were never involved in any of the cheats with the extra fast birds, etc. They are not even good combat vehicles since they take time to start. Helicopters are a sightseeing vehicle. One of my favorite things to do in the jungle was to fly helicopters. I feel like I am Rambo in Vietnam. Have you seen the jungle on Ultra Graphics flying overhead in a heli in midnight mode with a spotlight? It is a sight like no other. Please unban helicopters.

[12:45:35] Tantrica ღ (yt.recreant): because the healer group takes pride in the tag and wants only the best in them. if that shall be changed then the healer mentors are to be addressed for that. i am quite happy how well that group in the amazon is organized and if i remember 2017, to compare, we have a lot better healer quality now, hence i would like to not decide over their head.. take it to them please and when they want a change i will look into it

[12:46:13] Syd Straaf: To add to the issue of movement and transporting caps... The tunnel is great except it's really difficult to tell which exit is which. You have to fully turn and then wait for the name to rez. This seems minor but it's really kind of frustrating and I hear a lot of people complain about it. There's got to be some easier way to mark them.
[12:46:22] Syd Straaf: Also, transporting caps across sim lines... I know that's SL's fault, but like Zoey said, it can be really difficult to find someone's bind and people often have to resort to derendering plants. One solution is for the caps to run across the line themselves if they're not down.. cooperate with your captor. Another idea is maybe have some other way to yank a cap.. something on the captor's end of the leash. Helicopters are also useful for this when it's not so laggy that you're sure to fly into a mountain.
[12:47:40] Tantrica ღ (yt.recreant): the derender of bushes and stuff got worse even by that latest change on the behaviour of clicking on invisible, transparent stuff, as you all prolly learned when trying to pick fruits. one can only hope that that gets reverted

But proportionalely far fewer women are good fighters compared with the men. I'm a gamer, but I don't play the FPS games my male friends play that might possibly give me an advantage here.

[12:51:25] Persephone Bolero: Since a few people have mentioned it, I should respond. I feel my greater point is drown in a debate over gender disparities in video gaming. That was a very small detail in a much larger point about under-utilized tools in the RP. If I’d have known this comment about genders was going to be so distracting, I would have left it out. I would ask Syd, Zoey, and anyone else who disagrees with me about that point to please go back and read that whole comment. Just ignore the part about gender disparities. Even if you’re right and I’m wrong about that point, it doesn’t diminish the value of the greater point I was making, which was not really related. Thank you.

Also: good idea Harold, i liked to fly the helicopter quite a lot, and yes i think it has a 10 or 20 seconds start time, it's also somehow realisticish and quite good if you fly it in 1st person :3
[12:54:17] Tantrica ღ (yt.recreant): hours of restriction i see often with mixed feelings as a lot of people visit here after RL work (and, there is the rumour that some RL jobs still require attention, so they can't play here when working) -so if those get to play only 2h a day between work, family and sleep then any longer restriction is a huge blow to their sparetime.. but i get the point and will think of something

[12:54:54] Dojiba Elswit (dojiba.sabra): I'd like to say something about the helicopters. If they are enclosed, they can be used as a shield of sorts when flying, resulting in it taking more hits to get downed. Also, crashed and burning helicopters cause lag, especially when the flames regenerate.

And also, I have taken one of Maccuss' rp classes and in it he suggested that most of the time when you cap someone you should do some short rp when you are rather than take the cap back to your camp. Not all rp has to last a long time and rolling someone for coins seems to be a perfectly logical and fun way to get some quick action in.

And when you are down, sometimes during group fights you get downed by both sides, stray shots etc. You'd end up with like 5 hp max for days which really isn't much fun either.
As for perse's comments, Using dice for me takes away the whole immersion feeling of the game. And While sexual rp is quite entertaining, if that's all there ever is it gets to be very monotonous. Other forms of play can be invoked that are not sexually based.

[12:14:59] Persephone Bolero: One day, after a combat scenario turned into a bunch of drama, I realized how unsatisfying the combat RP in the Amazon often is. It’s almost never sexual. It rarely includes anything other than torture and extortion, which is lazy and repetitive. And it often turns into OOC drama. On the other hand, I realized, my non-combat RP is incredibly sexy. It’s often elaborate and complex, with multiple layers of conflict. And it’s never—not once!—turned into OOC drama. I would highly recommend people try going green. The RP can be so much more fulfilling, and it’s drama-free.
And you can still have physical conflicts with the dice. I have a pick in my profile that details a system I use. It’s a great way to get more out of your RP. Since males typically play video games a lot more than women, females are often at a disadvantage in pew-pew-pew. With dice, lag never affects outcomes. And since an attacker can easily lose no matter his skill, it places him in the position of not attacking just to stroke
[12:14:59] Persephone Bolero: his OOC ego with an easy victory. He has a 50/50 chance of being captured, which keeps combat less of a video game. Best of all, if the attacker is just someone whose idea of capture RP is “Haha, you lost. Give me coins,” you can walk away and spend your time with creative, sexy roleplayers. This is no critique of Tantrica’s combat system. It’s the best I’ve seen in SL, and I don’t want to start a bunch of judgements against people who want to stay yellow and enjoy that combat system. I may still go yellow or purple sometimes myself. I just want people to consider the possibilities of going green and/or doing combat RP with dice. It’s got a lot of untapped potential. We’ve been given a lot of tools to make this RP experience fun and individualized. We should use them all.

I spend a majority of that time walking someone and have no time to form a good rp because you cannot talk and walk at the same time. However, with the rescuing allowed again you cant just rp with someone in close range of where you had downed them. I love CARP rp and I ty to make it as entertaining as possible for anyone I take as a captive, try to build stories etc. But its very difficult to do when you have to drag someone 15 minutes before you can talk. by that time, everyone is in a bad mood.

You have to fully turn and then wait for the name to rez. This seems minor but it's really kind of frustrating and I hear a lot of people complain about it. There's got to be some easier way to mark them.

I know that's SL's fault, but like Zoey said, it can be really difficult to find someone's bind and people often have to resort to derendering plants. One solution is for the caps to run across the line themselves if they're not down.. cooperate with your captor. Another idea is maybe have some other way to yank a cap.. something on the captor's end of the leash. Helicopters are also useful for this when it's not so laggy that you're sure to fly into a mountain.

And also, I have taken one of Maccuss' rp classes and in it he suggested that most of the time when you cap someone you should do some short rp when you are rather than take the cap back to your camp. Not all rp has to last a long time and rolling someone for coins seems to be a perfectly logical and fun way to get some quick action in.

And when you are down, sometimes during group fights you get downed by both sides, stray shots etc. You'd end up with like 5 hp max for days which really isn't much fun either.
As for perse's comments, Using dice for me takes away the whole immersion feeling of the game. And While sexual rp is quite entertaining, if that's all there ever is it gets to be very monotonous. Other forms of play can be invoked that are not sexually based.

The key word, as the Wisdom Cave says is "ROLEPLAY". So, ROLEPLAY with them. Make it fun, make it different, propose marriage, be aggressive, hell, capture them (if yellow) and drag them home. Do what you want, but make it ROLEPLAY and make it original and FUN! If you know someone looking for a Seeker, you can't tell them names, but please give them that piece of information!
