2021 - the year of tolerance in the Amazon River

 OOC post!

Dear Amazonians,

i feel it is time again to put a year under a motto. After having had the "year of Excellence" in 2018 my gut-feeling tells me it is now a good occasion to call out the "Year of Tolerance". By that i want to encourage everybody to do two things:

- be tolerant to people with other views

- fight intolerance and heresy

The Amazon River has always strived to offer a variety of options to play and to cater to a wide range of preferences. The different spirit colours from green to purple are witness of that. Tolerance here means that everyone respects how others chose to play their game: green or yellow, monogamous or polyamorous, celibate or promiscuous, homo, hetero or bi. Whatever really.

In addition to that it is also important to keep in mind that the Amazon River in SL is a roleplay area. People come here to live a life in a way that springs out of their very own fantasy. Maybe they want to be even more like how they are in RL, or maybe they want to be the total opposite of what they are in RL. Either way, it does not matter and has to be tolerated.

Now for the intolerance and heresy: sometimes some people are insecure and scared of themselves. They know they have flaws; they feel inadequate and that makes them vulnerable. Or, sometimes, some people are just douchebags.

And then they try to bully others. Judge them for their lifestyle “Look, this slut!” or “Look, he fucks a different woman every day!” or “OMG, gays!” and what not. Such behaviour has no room in the Amazon River in SL. And it will find the exact echo of what it is: zero tolerance. If you encounter such occurrences, report them to staff, immediately. Have evidence ready. And rest assured, it will be dealt with confidentially. You can also contact the sim owner in IM for that.

Sometimes I hear “oh, yah, someone did that to me, but I won’t give their names” – the logic here escapes me. Do not ever believe for a second that if someone behaves towards you like a cunt that this person deserves any tolerance and leeway. We can fight this only if we are consequent.
