AMAZON — On Saturday, Oct. 9, the Tapirapé held the traditional Pit Fighting Tournament. Sixteen fighters battled for the grand prize. Silvia of the Xoco took home the First Place trophy. The Second Place trophy went to Myrna, and the Third Place spot went to Lestat.

The Pit Fights have long been used by natives to test their strength and agility amongst the warriors, and last weekend, the Tapirapé passed on this tradition on to the entire jungle.

It was a massive undertaking, requiring a lot of hard work and coordination, so the Tapirapé teamed up with the Red Coast Republic, who have a lot of experience in combat war games. Namida and Starz from the Republic refereed the match and dealt swiftly with any possible violations to the rules of combat.

Doctors Nalle and Yami dragged the wounded out of the pit and to the healer’s tent. At the tent, healers stood by to help recover injuries and feed the wounded, led by Whispering Wind of the Tapirapé, with Diana and two awesome nurses, Peachie and Belle, helping.

It was bloody, violent and fun, and the Tapirapé would like to thank the fighters for participating, as well as the healers that volunteered their time and skills and to the many participants that came to cheer.

See you all next year that the 2022 Amazon Pit Fights.
