Role-Play Lures

What is a Role-Play Lure, and how do I write one?

A Role-Play lure is a great way to encourage other players to come and Role-Play a scene that you would like to explore.

Below there is a short explanation about lures. It contains some examples to help show how they might be worded, but you can be creative with how you present them.

Remember they set a scene, are not to sound like an advertisement. In the Amazon, players are always welcome, and in fact encouraged to post lures in Amazon River Chat, so everyone please welcome those who do.

Creating a Lure

When creating a lure, please keep in mind it should be set up like a scene in a story, a small window into the world you are sharing.

You are telling something about yourself, where you are, what you are doing.

You are not simply stating information like an advertisement. The advertisement is assumed in your offering of words, then in an OOC request for Role-Play.

Say you are preparing a market and would like some Role-Play:

/me (insert name here) carefully sets out her display, adjusting the bowls near the steaming pot of soup. She leans over the freshly cooked meal, inhaling the herbal scent. With a pleased smile, she turns from it, proudly calling out, "Fresh meat stew for sale! Come while it's hot!" to the jungle around her.

((I'm near the Swamp, follow your nose for general RP!))

Or you have an event:

/me (insert name here) rushes through the village, hurriedly assessing each detail. Smiling briskly to those she passes, she makes her way toward the front of the seating area. With a sigh she closes her eyes asking the spirits to bless this celebration.
((We invite you to join us for a celebration near the Mt. Gedi))

And maybe you want something more...

/me (insert name here) lays back on the warm stone, her naked body wet from the river. With a sigh, she stretches out, arms bent lazily over her head, one leg bent up, waving easily side to side, the other laid flat, apart from the other. She closed her eyes, softly humming.
((I'm near Turtle Beach, looking for some possible ERP-prefer non capture but not too romantic))

These are, of course, just examples, but you set a scene and then say OOC what you want and where you are. Don't make it too long or too detailed, Role-Play that part...it's a lure to bring players in, not to tell them a whole story.

Lures can be for anything from combat to sex, exploring, to having a chat... If you want to reach out for Role-Play, they are a great tool and the Amazon welcomes them.

Use Amazon Chat to set your lure, but keep your Role-Play to local. And be sure to thank those that answer your call.

Good luck with your adventures and may your bait bring many excellent bounties!
